Short description of the project
EAVN participated as a partner in the project “PERSPECTIVE – Peer Education Routes for School Pupils to Enhance Consciousness of Tackling and Impeding women Violence in Europe” (with financial support from the DAPHNE III Programme of the European Union).
The project was implemented in 5 European countries (Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy and Cyprus) and was coordinated by the Municipality of Modena.
The aim of the project was adolescents’ awareness raising on gender-based violence and to promote the development of healty relationships between young people with the ultimate goal being the development of zero tolerance attitudes and behavours towards violence.
Boys and girls were called upon to explore gender stereotypes and socially imposed gender roles and their influence on their relationships and how power inequality between the sexes is related to violence against girls and women. The project was based on experiential learning methods and on the active participation of adolescents, via the use of the peer education method: that is, initially was conducted the awareness raising and training of students who in their turn sensitized all their peer schoolmates, through group activities (experiential exercises, dramatization, theater play etc.).
In addition, EAVN organized and implemented adolescents’ information & awareness raising campaign on Gender-based Violence (GBV) via TV and Radio spots and other material (e.g. posters, notepads, pencils). For the campaign were used messages created by the students who participated in the awareness raising workshops conducted in 5 European countries.
EAVN also edited the following deliverables in the English and Greek language:
- Thematic Modules for Teachers and Peer Educators based on “Peer Education” Methodology (Greek, English)
- Methodological Recommendations for Peer Education Activities (Greek, English)
- Documented Presentation of the Project Implementation in Schools (Greek, English).
