MeNow_MeToo: 1st Awareness Raising Exhibition on “Gender Based Violence – Violence against Women”
10-11 June 2023
EAVN organized a two-day event on 10-11 June 2023, aiming to raise awareness about domestic violence against women, sexual violence and its relation to our patriarchal structured society.
The action was implemented in the framework of the #MeNow_MeToo initiative (www.menowmetoo.gr) in collaboration with Olympic champion Sophia Bekatorou.
Through artworks, speeches, theatrical events and workshops, the aim of EAVN is to raise concerns and tell the stories of women or artists who want to present them through art and visual creation.
More than 20 artists participate in the exhibition with works of art (paintings, photographs, theatre performances, etc.). In the exhibition area a bazaar was also held with handmade articles by women survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, volunteers of the EAVN as well as branded articles donated by companies.
Proceeds were used to cover the costs of legal support for women and/or children who have been abused.
